The oldest Nikolaevsky convent built in 1580 is situated on the south side of the Cathedral Square. In 1885 Mother Superior Paissia was awarded with the bronze medal at the Nizhegorodsky industrial and trading fair for her articles. There is the wonder-making Madonna's icon "Healing sufferers from all the troubles" in the temple hospital.
